Hallo Mac, also wieder was gelernt parceltrains sind keine Güterzüge. Best regards Soeren.
Good pic of the A4 on a fitted freight at Bawtry. However, the description is not quite correct. It says that the photo was taken ca. 1955. This cannot be right. The loco has the late crest on the tender which indicates later than 1956. side of loco near front appears to be an overhead warning sign which would make it even later, say ca. 1960 or 61. Pity the loco cannot be identified as that might have helped with the date.
you have good eyes, those warning flashes didn't caught my ones. They originally were introduced on the Great Eastern Section in 1959 following the electrification of the southern part of Great Eastern Main Line suburban lines and then spread out into other regions as well.
However, there is a container in the train which seems to be in a plain livery, either crimson or bauxite. I understand that most container got "Door to Door" livery with the introduction of the Condor Service in 1961. Although this might not be a definite criteria it underlines the assumption that this photo was taken in 1959/60/61.
